#WeWantToKnow: Jennifer Flores
Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to Jennifer Flores – blogger, entrepreneur, and connector of people and big ideas. A household name in the home & design blogosphere, Jen is the blogger behind Rambling Renovators, an online journal that she started in 2007 to document the process of buying a house and renovating it with her husband. Over the last ten years, Jen has grown a loyal readership and is a trusted resource for decorating ideas, DIYs and renovation tips.
Jen is also the co-founder of BlogPodium, a professional development conference for digital influencers that has become a much-anticipated annual event for Canada's most influential bloggers, content creators, marketing professionals and brands. BlogPodium has its roots in the design community – it started as a 1-hour panel session at the Interior Design Show on how to get published in print – but quickly expanded to become the destination for design and lifestyle influencers as a one-day event full of sessions and workshops designed to help attendees grow their business. Jen is very well-respected in this industry and attracts notable members of the community to speak at the conference. Jen has been instrumental in fostering connection, conversation and collaboration in the Canadian blogging landscape. It was at my first BlogPodium three years that I first met Jen, and I've looked up to her since then as then as the matriarch of the Canadian home and design blogging community.
All of Jen's previous experience with influencers and brands makes her the ideal candidate to start an influencer marketing agency, and last month she launched Storyhouse Co. with business partner Cynthia Zamaria. Storyhouse Co. isn't your typical influencer marketing company, and Jen does not identify herself as an influencer manager – the business is unique in that it offers services both for brands and the influencer community by connecting them through emotional marketing, pairing products and services with the bloggers who have a meaningful story to tell about it. Storytelling is at the heart of the business, and because of Jen's deep knowledge in the home and design niche, she has unique insight of the bloggers who will be the best fit for certain brands. As Jen says, it's not about having a huge following, it's about having an engaged following of a target audience. There is far more to Storyhouse Co. than just matchmaking, though – Jen is passionate about helping bloggers and influencers develop their talent, helping them manage their blog as a successful small business, educating them on how to run a successful campaign with a brand, how to get more value out of their partnerships and more. Brands can expect the same level of dedicated attention by gaining from Jen's expertise on how to get more value out of their investment from partnerships with bloggers and influencers, learning from her knowledge of best practices, and receive guidance throughout campaigns, events and media previews to make them more engaging, unique, and enriched with value.
I'm thrilled to see Jen take on this new venture and have no doubt that she will make it a success! As long as I've known her, Jen has been a kind and supportive person who truly wants to see others succeed. If you're a brand or a blogger looking for a personalized marketing experience, you're going to want to check out Storyhouse Co. Follow Jen's blog Rambling Renovators to see her latest projects, home decor tips and more.
Want more? Let's hear from Jen herself! Here's what We Want To Know:
I can't start my morning without...a frothy cup of coffee and a hug from my soon-to-be 8 year old. I hope she never becomes too old for those hugs!
I have a weakness for...online shopping. At any moment, I’ll probably have a dozen virtual shopping carts filled with items I need or am waiting to price drop or simply coveting. I’m on a first name basis with my FedEx guy. That should tell you something.
Most people don't know that...I’m a spreadsheet wizard. Making budgets in Excel is something I really really enjoy.
Currently reading...The spring issues of Magnolia Journal, Country Living, and Beekman 1802 Style: The Attraction of Opposites. I find my everyday reading is light, home and décor-centric. Unless I’m at our cottage. That’s when I’ll dig into a good book that takes me many afternoons on the porch to finish.
I want...to have all of our moving boxes unpacked by the six month mark. To not to have to worry about my daughter’s future. To be constantly improving and learning something new.
Thank you, Jen, for being a part of #WeWantToKnow!
