I love getting to know successful, self-made women who are driven, creative and passionate, and Rebeca Zavaleta Ulch of Wishbone & Clover is one of these women. We only met each other a few months ago but we instantly bonded over our shared interests, and I'm happy that we're now connected because she is the kind of person who is so full of love and life and is truly happy when she sees other people succeed. The world needs more people like Rebeca in it!!! And so, it's my pleasure to introduce you to this talented and beautiful human.

Rebeca grew up in El Salvador and moved to Canada at the age of 18. She was four months pregnant when she bravely decided to leave her hometown and start a new life in a new country so that she could create opportunities for herself and her daughter, and went to live with her mother, who was already living in Canada. As I've come to know Rebeca, I see that the dedication she shows today to drive her career forward has its roots in the determination she had back then to provide a good life for her daughter.

After arriving in Toronto, Canada and earning her Fashion Management Diploma from George Brown College, Rebeca would spend the next 10 years working in various facets of digital marketing for fashion & apparel and lifestyle categories. During this time, Rebeca honed her skills at project management, conceiving of and pitching campaigns, digital creative strategy, and content creation. In the early days of her career she worked for a large retail corporation, and, though she views that experience with great respect, she felt that it was holding her back from being her most creative self. Eventually she moved on to work for smaller companies that allowed her more autonomy and creative control. Prior to creating her own media company, Rebeca managed influencer events and campaigns for the creative agency she managed, adding event planning to the list of skills that would one day lead to her entrepreneurial venture.

In July of 2015, Rebeca started her blog Wishbone & Clover and a personal Instagram account as a creative outlet to share her love of fashion and lifestyle. She rapidly grew her audience to a readership and following of over 10,000 in under six months, a clear sign of her marketing prowess, and she began to attract the attention of brands. She cultivated these relationships over the following year, and, combined with her 10+ years of expertise in marketing, she was perfectly poised to take on her next career move: Rebeca is now the Creative Director and founder of Wishbone & Clover Media, a boutique consulting agency that creates customized marketing strategies for its clients. Keep your eye on Rebeca, because this girl's star doesn't stop rising, and it shines as bright as she does. She's a driven, hard-working individual, an inspiring role model for her now-teenage daughter, and an example for the rest of us to always keep moving towards what you want. I can't start my morning without...coffee in bed with my pups while enjoying my favourite magazines online or print: Porter, Love, Paper and Harper's Bazaar. I love to have an hour to myself before the madness begins so I can take a step back, read something light and get inspired by the visuals. I always try to stick to this ritual because it makes a big difference in my day.

I have a weakness for...fashion, accessories and fashion. I used to cover my walls with fashion magazine editorials as a 10-year-old and I have never looked back. I went to school for fashion management and worked in the industry for several years. I see it as a true form of expression. I love having fun with fashion, taking risks and adding a little fantasy to my looks. I never take myself too seriously when it comes to getting dressed. As I get older I have become more comfortable in my own skin. I know what works for my body type and I truly dress for myself. I love the constant evolution, the element of surprise, I could go on and on for days and talk about fashion.

Most people don't know that I...have a 17-year-old daughter. (I’m 36.) I mean, those who follow me on Instagram might know but she is rarely featured on my page. Paula is wise beyond her years and has her own voice and opinion which I love. Now that she’s a bit older, we are starting to develop a more 'grown up' relationship and I couldn’t be happier because after all she’s a teenager. She always wants to hang with the two of us which is so rare these days. We are currently working on a couple of projects together which is very exciting!

Currently reading…I like to read in Spanish. My favourite author is Isabel Allende. Her novels are often based upon her personal experience and historical events and pay homage to the lives of women, while weaving together elements of myth and realism. I actually named my daughter Paula after my favourite book of hers. It's about a mother's overwhelming love and the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters. I have read this book probably 5 times.

English: I just finished The Career Code, the third book in the Who What Wear series, by fashion and digital girl bosses Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr. It is basically a guide for creating your own professional success. The book is filled with insightful, pragmatic “career codes” to follow, as well as stories of what they’ve learned while building their company from zero employees to the multi-brand, multi-platform, multi-million-dollar company it is today. Pretty amazing stuff!

I want…to empower other women, give back, travel with my husband, adopt 2 more puppies and live a long life and see my daughter Paula thrive.
